How do I book in?
All artists at Legacy Tattoo manage their own bookings, have their own availability and prices. Please contact your chosen artist directly to make an appointment. Artist’s chosen method of contact can be found on our Artists page. Legacy is a busy shop with very rare walk in space so we’d recommend you book ahead to avoid disappointment. All last minute walk in spaces will be advertised on our shop’s instagram stories.
How much does a tattoo cost?
All Legacy artists manage their own pricing and will give you a quote when you make an enquiry. Please be aware the price of your tattoo may change depending on the final size, placement and intricacy of the design. If changes are made to your original request the final price may also change. Your artist will discuss their pricing with you during your appointment before they start tattooing you.
Our shop minimum is £80. This covers smaller (up to 2inch) line pieces.
Will I need to pay a deposit?
Yes! All Legacy Artists require a deposit to secure an appointment date, each artist will have their own deposit terms & conditions. Deposit costs can vary depending on the length of the tattoo appointment and final cost of your tattoo. Please ask your artist directly how much you need to put down.
Can I change my tattoo appointment or get a refund on my deposit?
All deposits are non-refundable. Tattoo appointments can be changed as long as there been a suitable notice period, any less notice period will result in you losing your deposit. Your artist will have their own deposit terms and conditions. By sending a deposit you agree to the artist’s stated Ts & Cs. If you have any queries please discuss with your chosen artist before sending a deposit.
How old do I need to be to get a tattoo?
You must be 18 years old to legally get a tattoo in the UK, even with parental consent. We promise it’s worth the wait!
You may be asked to show physical ID before your tattoo and if you cannot show this at your appointment you will not be able to get tattooed. Photos of ID are not accepted.
Can I bring someone with me to my appointment?
Please check with your artist before bringing someone with you to your appointment. We are a busy shop and space is often limited when we have a full house of artists working. It is always best to check before to avoid disappointment, there are some days where the shop is usually less busy and we may be able to accommodate more guests.
This is my first tattoo- will it hurt?
Tattoos do hurt, but everyone’s experience is completely different. Pain tolerances vary from person to person and different parts of the body hurt more than others. Your artist can advise placements for your first tattoo that tend to be less painful areas.
Being well fed and well-rested will minimise discomfort, keeping up your blood sugar levels, and for longer sessions of over an hour you might find paracetamol helps. Please note, if you are someone who gets a period your body will likely feel more pain/your skin will be more sensitive just before and for the first day or two of your period. If you are able to take this into account when booking it can really help!
Can I use numbing cream?
Please ask your artist before attending your appointment with numbing cream already applied. Some areas are not suitable for numbing so it’s important to discuss with your artist prior to your appointment. If you are going to use numbing cream, please ensure you have done a patch test at least 48 hours before your appointment.
Drugs and Alcohol
Legacy Tattoo Studio Ltd has a zero tolerance policy to being tattooed under the influence of drugs or alcohol. If you arrive to your appointment under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or take drugs and/or alcohol during your appointment, you will be asked to leave and forfeit your deposit.
Will I see the design before my appointment?
It is the shop policy at Legacy to show the design on the day of the appointment. Small changes can be made on the day but larger changes or a redraw will cut into tattooing time. Because of this, please be specific when sending references to your chosen artist and make sure they are away of any design details that are important to you. We would recommend you notify them of this before sending a deposit and confirming an appointment date.
Can I get tattooed if I’m ill?
You should not get tattooed if you’re sick/ill. This is for your own sake and as a courtesy to the artists at the shop. Your body and immune system is already working hard to heal a tattoo, if you are unwell it may affect how your tattoo heals and the final result. In addition, all of our artists are self employed so if they’re sick and cannot work they don’t get paid. Please contact your artist if you are unwell prior to your appointment.
What should I do if I feel unwell during my appointment?
If you begin to feel unwell during your tattoo please let your artist know straight away. Sometimes your blood sugar levels can drop during the tattooing process and you may feel light headed/nauseous. In this case, having a short break and a sugary snack can make the world of difference. Every artist at Legacy is experienced in supporting you if you feel faint or unwell and will look after you until you feel better. Our staff have annual first aid training so you can feel assured that you are in safe hands.
Is there parking at the shop?
Sadly there is no parking at Legacy Tattoo. The closest long stay car park is Swan Lane car park, where you can get a full day’s parking for £2.80.
How can I pay on the day of my tattoo?
Please ask your artist their preferred payment method. We do not have a card machine at the shop so payment methods are usually via cash, paypal or bank transfer. There is an atm at the Tescos across the road from the shop.
Will my tattoo be posted online?
Our artists may want to take photos or videos of your tattoo for their social media pages/portfolio. If you do not want your tattoo posted on social media please let your artist know and do not sign the photography release form when signing in at your appointment. Please note that sometimes artists may not post your tattoo even after taking photos- this is usually because the skin was too red/swollen or they may have not got a photo they were happy with. Please don’t be offended if your tattoo isn’t posted- it’s not you, it’s them! 🙏🏻
Can I have privacy while being tattooed?
Our shop is an open space with multiple artists tattooing in the same room. We find this creates a fun and friendly atmosphere where we can interact with each other, however we understand that for more intimate tattoo placements you wish to have some privacy. In this case your artist can put up screens to create a private space for you.
What should I bring with me to my appointment?
A form of I.D, some sugary snacks and drinks to keep with you (there is a Tescos across the road if you’d like to grab lunch/extra snacks during your break), if you have a long appointment a phone charger is always handy!
Should I shave before my appointment?
Please don’t shave the area you are getting tattooed before your appointment. Your artist will prep the skin and shave the area with a surgical razor for you as it needs to be done a specific way for the tattooing process. If you shave the area yourself you run the risk of potentially not being able to get the tattoo in your chosen placement.
The only exception for this is if you are getting your head tattooed. In this case, cutting/shearing the hair to a grade 2/3 will help your artist out when they come to doing a close shave/prepping the area at your appointment.
